What is GST?

GST (Goods and Services Tax) is a single indirect tax applied on the supply of goods and services in India, replacing older taxes like VAT and service tax. It is charged as a percentage of the value of the goods or service.

How to use this calculator

Choose "Add GST" if you have a price before tax and want to know the tax and final price. Choose "Remove GST" if you have a final price that already includes GST and want to know the original price and tax amount. Pick the applicable GST rate, or enter a custom rate, then select whether the transaction is within the same state or between different states to see the correct CGST/SGST or IGST split.

CGST vs SGST vs IGST

For a sale within the same state, GST is split equally between CGST (collected by the central government) and SGST (collected by the state government). For a sale between two different states, the full amount is charged as IGST (collected by the central government and apportioned to the destination state). The total tax paid is identical in both cases — only the split changes.
