How this compressor works

Choose an image, pick an output format and quality level, then compress. The tool shows the original size, the compressed size, and the percentage reduction side by side, along with a preview of both versions, so you can judge whether the quality trade-off is worth it before downloading.

Choosing a format and quality

JPEG and WebP both support a quality slider from 1–100: lower quality means a smaller file but more visible compression artifacts, especially on sharp edges and text. WebP generally compresses photos smaller than JPEG at the same visual quality. PNG is lossless and does not use the quality slider — it's the right choice for screenshots, logos, or images that need transparency, but it won't shrink a photo much.

Privacy by design

This tool runs entirely in your browser using the canvas element to re-encode the image. Nothing is uploaded to any server, which also means it works offline once the page has loaded.
