How this tool works

Type your page title and meta description. Each one is measured using your browser's canvas text-rendering engine, in a font sized to approximate how Google renders search result snippets, and compared against an estimated maximum width. The bar fills up as you type and turns red once you're likely past the point where Google would truncate it with an ellipsis.

Why this is more accurate than a character counter

Most "meta description length checkers" just count characters, which treats every letter as the same width — but "W" is much wider than "i" on screen. Measuring actual rendered pixel width, the way this tool does, gives a much closer approximation of what will actually get cut off in real search results.

Privacy by design

Measurement happens entirely in your browser using the canvas element's built-in text metrics. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.
